Student Showcase
1. As our first project, students learned about Louise Nevelson and the element of art-line. To build community and empathy, we talked about positive and negative comments and how it feels to receive them. Then using found objects students created Nevelson inspired collaborative pieces that incorporated elements of line as well as positive messages. The 7th graders then shared their projects with 1st grade classes explaining their art as well as presenting them with hidden messages. The 1st graders were thrilled to have notes from the 7th graders!
2. Continuing our study of line, students created proportional portraits learning how to draw a realistic face. Next using basic wire techniques students created contour line wire portraits. They then attached their wire portraits to pieces of cardboard. The students did an excellent job exploring wire techniques and the portraits turned out amazing!
